Leadership

Swetlana Lobachova, MD, MBA—Regional Vice President of Clinical Services in New England

Originally from Ukraine and Germany, Dr. Lobachova completed her education at Harvard University, obtaining a combined MD/MBA degree. Following anesthesia residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, Dr. Lobachova worked as an attending anesthesiologist in private practice. In 2018, Dr. Lobachova became Chief of Anesthesiology at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA, where she was brought in to lead the department through a transition to a new anesthesia services provider.

She pursued a variety of quality and efficiency improvement initiatives, solidified the relationship with the hospital administration, and led the department through the COVID crisis.

Dr. Lobachova’s clinical anesthesia interests are varied and include ambulatory anesthesia, regional anesthesia, multimodal or opiate free anesthesia, as well as pediatric anesthesia. Dr. Lobachova is outcomes-oriented, adaptable to high acuity and changing environments, and a creative problem solver. She is motivated by data, quality, and efficiency.

As a leader, Dr. Lobachova is firmly guided by the three principles of availability, affability, and accountability. She holds herself to the highest standards and strives to empower others to challenge themselves and reach their potential. Dr. Lobachova’s work ethic and commitment to her staff and craft inform her daily activities.

On a personal note, Dr. Lobachova lives outside of Boston, MA, with her husband, Harrison, and her two daughters, ages 10 and (almost) 6. She is fluent in German and Russian and enjoys reading, art, hiking, biking, and gardening, and has been trying to learn to play the piano.
